It’s here.
After all the caffeine, spite, and 3am anxiety sessions, the sequel to The Three Faces of Fate1 has finally clawed its way into the world. The Undefeated Throne is live, and your reward for surviving Book 1 is… well, this.
You can thank me later. Or curse me. Probably the latter.
🔥 The Undefeated Throne is available now: https://www.books2read.com/TheUndefeatedThrone 🔥
Also, I’ve started a new project! Let’s get into it.
The Undefeated Throne

For those of you who don’t mind getting blood on your shoes, like a side of mythological mash-ups, and dig characters who make poor life choices for the best of reasons, this one’s for you.
You don’t have to just take my word for it. A few brave souls who got an early look have already weighed in. Apparently, I didn’t completely mess it up.
Here’s what they’re saying2:
"This book reads like the author's editor's notes from part one read, in part, 'Needs more Zombies'... the snappy snarky dialogue is still wonderful; the characters are starting to feel like old friends, but yet still exhibit a wonderful sense of doubt and frailty in their actions and motivations... Is this the 'Empire' to Book 1's 'Hope' ? Could be." — James Roberts-Thompson
"Think Marvel heroes and anti-heroes, but up the action, fights and humour by tenfold. I love these characters. Each so flawed, snarky throw away one liners and banter, and each ready to put their fears aside and jump right into unwinnable battles with supernatural monsters and demons." — Peter
"The balance between revealing more of their backstories and the worldbuilding and keeping the story speeding along is perfectly tuned – the reader is able to pick up all sorts of interesting information and emotional development while barely stopping to catch their breath." — Steph Warren
"The story touched me on so many levels I felt I was living in it, not reading about it... I could see not only the color of the hair, the skin, the clothes, the environment, but also the sadness, the fortitude, the self-sacrifice, the regret, the bravery and the hope." — Lili
"The second book in this trilogy flows smoothly from the story begun in Three Faces of Fate. Richard Parry’s work is centered on memorable characters and thoroughly developed world building." — Walter Scott
So there you have it. More zombies (or something like them), more snark, and more questionable choices from your favourite dysfunctional found family. If that sounds like your kind of punishment, you know what to do.
Go on. The apocalypse won’t start itself.

Now that Throne has escaped containment and is out in the wild, you’ll be wondering WTAF I’m going to be doing with all my ‘spare time3’.
The Echo Plague
The attentive among you will have noticed a new piece of original writing appearing here on Roll for Narrative. It’s the first chapter of The Echo Plague, a new series set in a sort of dark future4 with high-tech weapons and people who think they know what they’re doing5.
We meet Veritas agent Korvus through another man’s eyes in The Well of Lethe:
Lethe is a prison planet, a hellscape with a blistering high-pressure atmosphere and oceans of roiling acid. The Well, perhaps the kindest term for a pit dug into the bedrock under those very oceans, is a place where The Integrated Collective put people they want to forget… but might need at some later point.
Naturally, this book is about absolutely none of that. We haven’t met the aliens yet.
Go on. Check it out. You know you want to6.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I'll be in my writer-cave, bracing for the next wave of reviews and distilling gin for The Echo Plague. Korvus is going to need it.
Stay caffeinated,
R

Like ‘leftover pizza’, this is a logical fallacy: there is no such thing as ‘spare time’.
Honestly, with everything that’s going on in the world already, I kind of wonder if us sci-fi authors are suffering a failure of imagination.
Spoilers: they don’t.
New chapters will arrive on (mostly) Fridays!
Leftover Pizza and spare time 🤣🤣🤣
